A Misused Design

As an engineer I am always intrigued by product design, function and manufacturing. Everything we encounter was designed for a specific function, an intended operation. Now I understand that every design does not function as intended, every design is not manufacturable and yes some designs are just bad in nature. Although I believe there are some designs that were deemed poor and even discarded as a result of misuse. During my professional engineering career I cannot tell you the many times I've been associated with a bad design as a result of someone using the design outside of its intended function. We must understand that a design that is used outside of its intended function does not qualify it as poor, it is rather reflective of someone using it poorly. If I attempt to drive a nail in a wall with a pair of scissors and become unsuccessful using that technique does that mean scissors are a poor design? Absolutely not, scissors are just a poor tool to use when trying to drive a nail. Similarly it would not be wise for me to attempt precisely cutting paper with a hammer.

I say this to highlight two critical points:

1.       A design that is used outside of its function cannot be condemned for empty or unfavorable results.

2.       A design that is used outside of its function should not result in the designer being condemned and labeled as a poor designer.

Consequently, these two scenarios are constantly brought to surface and unfortunately many people have been mislabeled as bad designs when in reality they are just suffering from misuse.

Example:

Consider this - God is the greatest designer of all. He is the supreme architect, the sharpest engineer, the most creative artist, the most precise sculptor and potter. He dwells on a level all by himself. However, how many times have we labeled His greatest design (Mankind) as bad, poor, sinful, wretched, useless, etc.? Understand that God's design of man was perfect, flawless, without any sign of error (it was VERY good). Could it be that we have allowed someone to use the design outside of its intended function? Could it be that we have tried to use the design to do things that it was not designed to do and as a result, broke, corrupted, scarred or even killed ourselves? We must ask ourselves - How is the design God made me to be being used? If you have a regretful answer to this question then ask yourself this: Whose hand is the design in for use?

Perhaps satan is misusing you and you blame God for `not` making you a particular way. However, God's intent for our usage is perfect. It is satan that comes in and steals the design and uses it in areas it was not created to function. As a result, many are broken, corrupted, scarred, many have been killed and destroyed all at the hands of misuse.

We must understand that God has designed each of us for a specific purpose, to work and occupy a particular function. Do not allow satan to rob you of that function and cause you to operate in areas (drugs, fornication, lying, robbery, murder, SIN) that you were not designed to function in.

So before we blame God for making or not making us a certain way - ask yourself this question. Who's handling me as a design, God or satan?
